UPnP Interface

This program makes it simple to discover, add, and remove port mappings on a UPnP device such as a DSL modem or a router. It also displays the device settings and state variables.

I wrote this application because I was unable to play multiplayer games online or run a web server on my computer using Qwest DSL with MSN as my ISP. Many people with an MSN DSL 800 or DSL 1000 modem have felt my same frustration. I wouldn't have known where to begin if I hadn't found the MSN Forum at Broadband Reports.

  This software is for any version of Microsoft Windows. To install, download this zip file, open it, and run setup.exe. If you cannot open a zip file, download WinZip.

• UPnpInterface.exe (72 kb)

  You may download this single executable instead of the setup package if you know that you already have the VB6 runtime or the .NET framework.

Several users of UPnP Interface have written to thank me and to offer suggestions. Kirk Kelsey contributed a draft user guide and screenshots.

I moved in September 2003 and no longer have an MSN DSL modem, so unfortunately I cannot experiment with it any more to try to recreate a specific error you might encounter. Some suggestions for dealing with common errors appear in the user guide. Please notify me of any additional problems and/or solutions you find. Thanks!
